Rachel grew up in Squamish and has recently returned after living on Vancouver Island for the past few years. She feels most grounded in the natural environment B.C. has to offer, from coastal beaches to river forests. Rachel spends most of her free time in the outdoors, camping, hiking, or skiing, and is usually accompanied by her dog, Keo. When not outside, Rachel enjoys watching feel-good movies and playing board games with friends. You might recognize Rachel from her previous work in the community as a child and youth program leader at Brennan Park Recreation.

During her time on Vancouver Island, Rachel completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Victoria and a Diploma in Community, Child, and Family Studies from Camosun College. These education experiences solidified Rachel’s desire to work in the human services field supporting others. She worked as a Community Support Worker for adults with disabilities in Port Hardy, a small community on the north end of Vancouver Island. During this time, Rachel saw first-hand the importance that access to mental-health services can have for individuals. Seeing the need for counsellors and wanting to develop skills to better support people, Rachel was motivated to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Her studies have equipped her with effective strategies for supporting individual needs from a strength-based, person-centred approach. Rachel is excited to put her counselling skills into practice as a practicum student with Pacific Solstice Group and looks forward to building empathetic and trusting therapeutic relationships with her clients.
